Why use camping water filters?
Never assume that water at a campground is safe to drink, even if it comes from a spigot or standpipe. The water in lakes, rivers, and springs may look crystal clear but often contains various bacteria that can cause illness.Unless it is posted or an official from the campground has told you that the water is safe to drink, you must use one of three purification methods: filter, chemical tablets, or boiling. Boiling water for drinking purposes is time consuming and sometimes completely impractable. Likewise the use of chemical tablets has downsides including sometimes an unpleasant taste.
The use of the camping water filter is the only real, practical, safe method of quickly obtaining drinking water from a number of sources.
Camping Water Filter devices – also known as point-of-use (POU) water treatment systems and field water disinfection techniques – are self-contained units that can be used by recreational enthusiasts, military personnel, survivalists, and others who must obtain drinking water from untreated sources (e.g., rivers, lakes, etc). The objective of these personal devices is to render unchlorinated water potable (that is, safe for drinking purposes).
Many commercial portable water purification systems are available for hiking, camping, and other travel in remote areas. These devices are not only used for remote or rural areas. They can also be used to treat safe municipal water for aesthetic purposes by removing chlorine, bad taste, heavy metals like lead and mercury, and odors.
Please take the time to browse our site, watch and read the review material and look at the detailed features of each unit before making the decision to buy.
